McCook Public Power District will be taking applications for a Safety Director.
RESPONSIBILITY: The primary responsibility of this position will be to oversee all safety and loss control related programs of the District. This includes safety accreditations, safety training, safety meetings, safety committee work, accident investigations, recommend safety operating rules/procedures, system hazard investigations, and other duties as assigned. Also works with the general public by providing safety knowledge and educational opportunities. Provides the General Manager and Board of Directors with progress reports and status of the safety program and also work to achieve goals and objectives of the District as delegated.
SKILLS: The Safety Director should demonstrate the ability to lead with an upbeat and positive attitude. Should be able to communicate, interact and be able to present material to all levels of the organization and public. Must have demonstrated the ability to read and understand staking sheets, REA specifications, the NESC, and acquire working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations. Should possess a valid CDL.
QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate’s degree or associated direct experience in the utility industry is desired. Job related experience in industrial safety/security can be substituted for some formal education. Loss Control and Safety Training Certification is beneficial.
WAGE: The wage will depend on experience and qualifications. A wage range is available upon request.
