Cardio Dance/Zumba Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the mission of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Cardio Dance/Zumba Instructor will provide an engaging, safe, and motivating fitness experience for all members and program participants. The primary responsibility is to deliver high-quality, fun, and inclusive group fitness instruction while fostering a positive and welcoming environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan, prepare, and lead engaging Cardio Dance/Zumba classes for members of all ages and fitness levels.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by teaching proper technique, providing modifications, and monitoring class activity.
  • Motivate participants and create a fun, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
  • Demonstrate exercises and dance moves clearly and effectively, adjusting instruction as needed for various abilities.
  • Be fun, energetic, and outgoing while fostering enthusiasm and engagement during every class.
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate personal and professional needs.
  • Build relationships with participants, encouraging regular attendance and a sense of community.
  • Maintain accurate class attendance records and follow Y policies for program documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio space and equipment before, during, and after classes.
  • Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Continuously update and improve class routines and choreography to keep programming fresh and engaging.
  • Other duties as needed to assist in the overall successful operation of the YMCA.


REQUIREMENTS:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Comfortable leading groups of varying fitness levels and ages.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Cardio Dance certification is not required, but the Y will provide support and resources to complete certification.

Ability to demonstrate safe exercise techniques and modifications as needed.

Commitment to upholding the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
