To mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the McCook Fire Department is holding a memorial stair climb to honor those first responders who died in the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001. The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the MCC Graff Events Center, where registered participants will climb "110 stories" on the gym stairs or on the walking trail next to the event center. Proceeds from the event will go to the National Fallen Firefighter's Association.
Minimum $25, if register on National Fallen Firefighter Foundation website for McCook climb. Can raise additional donations. Alternative times and dates planned which don't require registration/fee.
After a brief ceremony to mark the 9/11 anniversary, registered participants will begin the 110-story climb in the event center or walking trail and will have 3 hours to complete the climb.
